Àban - Adventure Learning Community
Imagine how you and your community would change if time in nature became a normal part of daily life. That radical change is our vision.
We offer the highest quality and best value adventurous learning experiences in Inverness. We’re building a modern social enterprise which responds quickly to deliver exactly what our community needs.
From January 2022 we're working in Muirtown Primary to offer a one day per week afterschool club. We pick up directly from class at 3pm and then go straight into some fantastic outdoor activities until 5.30pm pickup, including healthy homemade outdoor snacks. This is a simple and affordable way to get your son or daughter outdoors for a good two and half hours a week.
This is our first year as a DofE Centre, and we're so fortunate to have come into contact with this amazing group of young people. It takes guts to step outside of your comfortable school or college social circles and commit to doing DofE Gold with people you've never met. In the photo you've got participants from four schools across Inverness & the Black Isle, with Inverness College UHI represented as well.
Here's a short collection of recent quotes from participants and parents. "The sort of thing my Dad would have done when he was a kid" really hits home - what a wonderful way to capture that magic feeling of a childhood spent freely exploring the forests close to home.
You can view our entry on the Scottish register here. This marks a new phase in our development, and we look forward to delivering for the community in Inverness as best as we can. On Monday 29th November we will welcome our new Trustee Jonathan Molloy to our next Board meeting - look out for his bio appearing here soon.
Paul Frost at PFweb is based down in Grantown-on-Spey. We've worked together on various websites over the last 7 years, and I'm delighted that he took on the challenge of building a new site for Àban. We've gone for a really simple design which displays neatly on all screen sizes.
Zima tuż za rogiem, lecz Àban nie ma w zwyczaju zapadać w sen zimowy. Wręcz przeciwnie! Dla nas to czas by zacząć coś zupełnie nowego.
Jesteśmy podekscytowani przedstawiając Wam projekt stworzony specjalnie z myślą o polskojęzycznych rodzinach w Inverness.
We're working in local schools running a range of adventurous learning sessions. Àban is fully licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and is on Highland Council's Approved Activity Provider list. Our focus is on local outdoor experiences with direct transfer into young people's daily lives.
Àban offers a fantastic range of holiday experiences for your children. Whatever your chosen activity, you'll do 3 day trips Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday before heading off for an overnight experience Thursday & Friday. We offer breakfast, lunch & early dinner, and run from 8am to 5:30pm.
