The Àban vehicle hire service is a benefit for our group members. We operate from our base in Merkinch, and vehicles are available to non-profit making clubs and voluntary community groups. NB we are a very small team and our service is specifically targeted at groups in our local community only.
We currently operate a Renault Trafic 9-seater vehicle which was donated to us in 2023 by the Highland Cross. We are currently fundraising for a second vehicle through the Bridge to Bridge cycle event. If you have any questions about joining our Group Membership scheme, please get in touch with the office, we'd love to hear from you. There are four simple steps to your first journey using our vehicle:
Complete the Group Membership application & pay the £30 registration fee
Ask your driver to complete the Individual Driver registration
Your driver must attend and pass our practical competency assessment
Finally, your driver must complete our welcome & induction process where we explain the booking & signout process.
Àban is a member of the Community Transport Association and operates under a Section 19 permit under the Traffic Act 1985 which allows the charging of passengers to cover costs, providing the passengers are members of affiliated groups or are being helped by the affiliated group as an aspect of social, welfare, cultural community service. No other use is permitted under this legislation.
