Run the Loch Ness Marathon for ÀbanSunday 27th September 2026
A first for us this year, we're delighted to offer 4 charity places at the 2026 Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon!
- Now more than ever, young people need time away from screens & outdoor adventures with friends
- Your support can change a young person's life by offering them a space in our groups
- We receive no central funding - please help us to support 300 local young people every year
My daughter joined the Àban Mountaineering Club, and honestly, as a mum, I can't even begin to express just how much this means to our family. This isn't just about outdoor activities - it's about building friendships, learning to trust each other, facing challenges together. Àban isn't just an organisation, it's become a real family to our kids.
What you'll get as an Àban runner before the race
- Guaranteed entry to this iconic sell-out marathon
- Àban running vest or t-shirt
- Mix up your training with a guided hill running or hill walking day led by our expert staff
- A chance to spend an activity day outdoors with one of our groups

Apply for a charity place
Please fill in our short application form by clicking the button below. If successful, we'll ask you to pay a registration of £45 and fundraise a minimum of £500 to support our vital work with young people in Inverness.
How quickly will I hear if I've got one of your charity places?
We are a small team so we will be able to give you a response to your form within 5 working days. We know you'll be keen to start training & fundraising!
Is it complicated to set up my fundraising?
The Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon uses Let's Do It & Enthuse, the leading entry and fundraising platforms. Everything will be set up for you to personalise and share - you'll only need one login. It's super easy and there is loads of technical support on hand for you if you get stuck.
How much do I need to fundraise?
As a charity place runner, your target will be £500 (excluding Gift Aid).
What happens if I don't reach my target?
Setting a fundraising target can feel like a big commitment, but you don’t have to take it on alone. Anyone with a place on our event who needs extra support with fundraising is encouraged to reach out. We're a small, friendly team with extensive experience and can provide practical guidance, creative ideas, and useful resources to help you reach — and even exceed — your goal.
Why do you insist on a £500 minimum target?
We know it can feel like a bit of pressure to hit a target. Because we invest resources to secure and offer these places, we ask anyone who goes on to take part to commit to raising a minimum amount in sponsorship.Every charity place at an event plays a vital role in supporting our work through fundraising.
