Night Navigation Training

Descending into the night.

With the seasons changing and the longer nights coming in, now is the perfect time to develop your existing navigation skills. A night navigation session will give you the opportunity to build on the skills you already have, whilst learning new tactics and techniques so you can confidently and effectively navigate in darkness or low visibility conditions.

Throughout the evening we will aim to cover: breaking the navigation down into sensible legs, taking and following bearings, pacing and timing, aiming off, using attack points and contour interpretation.

This course is aimed at people who already have some navigation experience and are active hillwalkers and hill runners. We will start and finish in the dark and the majority of the session will be spent walking off the path through heathery and tussocky terrain.
