Duke of Edinburghs Award Expedition Aviemore station

We run Scotland's only independent Open Award Group. Every year we bring together 20 young people from all over Inverness & surrounding areas. How do we do it? It's all down to our fabulous volunteers who give up so much of their free time to support the group, coupled with our Ten Principles.

It is no longer possible to join DofE for this year, but the next cohort will be starting for those aged 16 or over in August 2024. You can express interest by filling out this form here.

Thanks to generous support from the Silverhill Trust, every year we can offer ten fully funded scholarships for our programme. You’ll meet folk from other schools, or who are maybe already at college or in work. For the expeditions, our ethos is low cost and local. We go on foot using trains & buses as a way to get into the hills. The focus is on you as a young adult coming along and doing your best with our support. We have excellent relationships with local volunteering organisations including Clachnacuddin Football Club and Merkinch Local Nature Reserve.

Further Information for Parents

A comprehensive kit list is provided below. We can provide almost everything on this list from our Gear Hub project, so there is no need to spend money on new kit.

What will my son / daughter eat on expedition? Probably the most common question we get asked! We provide one "boil in the bag" camping dinner for each night, everything else is down to participants. Here are some great meal ideas - DofE menu ideas link.
