Calling all sea kayakers
Will you help us deliver our 2024 charity swim events? We're expanding our fantastic team of sea kayakers for our charity swim events. Do you want to enjoy an excellent 'Paddle with a Purpose', with high quality training and safety backup?
We're looking for support for the following events in 2024:
- Saturday 22nd June - Loch Ness Cruise & Swim
- Saturday 31s August - Kessock Ferry Swim
Key facts:
- All our volunteer paddlers are insured under Àban's comprehensive Public Liability & Employer's Liability policies. You do not require your own insurance.
- £125/day volunteer expenses available
- Our swim events are professionally managed, with powerboat fleets and event first aid cover on hand to assist in keeping our swimmers safe.
We're looking for paddlers who:
- Are comfortable paddling for up to two hours at a time on exposed open water
- can self-rescue
- can rescue a swimmer in the water. This may include e.g a short paddle with a swimmer on your craft or towing them a short distance.
- can provide your own boat and all equipment

Testimonial from Ian Bowler, Àban's Watersports Technical Expert
I'm pleased to continue to be associated with Àban. I share their focus on building strong relationships, developing confidence in young people and increasing their self belief through high quality local adventures. In terms of water safety, Àban are an organisation who care about learning and really support their paddlers.
