Successful funding bid – Firstport
Great news today as Àban has scored its first fundraising success! Back before Christmas, we applied for the “Start It” funding package from the Social Entrepreneurs Fund, which is managed by Firstport. I’m so pleased we’ve got this £5000 award under our belts because it means that we can build the best quality foundations for Àban.
There’s so much hard work to do in the background before we can get ourselves back out in front of you guys, the parents & children, again. We’re going to constitute ourselves as a Company Limited by Guarantee, and then seek charitable status. All our profits will be reinvested directly back into the business, and the Directors will not take any assets or profits out of the business. That’s quite a lot of legal work to sort that, which is going to be handled by specialists Senscot Legal down in Glasgow. Then we’ve got to get our Adventure Activities Licence so we can deliver more remote and adventurous activities. And we’ve got equipment to purchase, a website to build, and crucially we need to work hard to get the word out about Àban’s offering to everyone in Inverness! We’re so grateful to Firstport for throwing their weight behind our fledgling project. Now the real work begins.
