Old traditions, new beginnings
Our Duke of Edinburgh's Award group is now underway, meeting once a month at the Cameron Youth Centre.
Tonight we're so pleased to begin our small contribution to the rich history of the Cameron Youth Centre. With generous financial assistance from the Silverhill Trust, we are able to welcome a group of 17 intrepid young folk who are embarking on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. For most in the group they are "direct entrants", meaning that they have not had the opportunity to take part in Bronze or Silver. We'll now continue to support them until the age of 25, which is the cutoff for completion.
A huge thank you to our volunteers George Shread (doing this as part of his own Gold award), Luke Taylor, Alison Stewart & Helen Tatlow who are giving up their time to support this group.
We've recreated this wonderful photo showing the visit of HRH Duke of Edinburgh dated 1950s.
