Born in East Lothian I spent my childhood exploring the countryside, moorland and beaches. Climbing and mountaineering is the catalyst for my deeper exploration of the UK and its more remote areas. I have nearly always worked outside in some form but it was after a summer in the Alps that I decided to tun my passion for the outdoors into my career. I spent a year at Lagganlia Outdoor centre on their Instructor Development Scheme shadowing, learning and having a mentor to help guide me. Since the year at Lagganlia ended I have been enjoying the wonderful world of freelance outdoor instruction.
